The NUS high school students Liao Shao Kang and Theo Rajan Terence nominated me, and I was awarded the “Inspiring Research Mentor Award 2018” of the school. It seems they like their SCIENTA projects entitled “Evaluating the electronic properties of aromatic nitrogen compounds by 13C NMR spectroscopy” and “Evaluating the electron delocalization across nitrogen heterocycles by 13C NMR spectroscopy”. These projects are quite “hardcore” chemistry for JC level students involving advanced fundamental organometallic chemistry and spectroscopy, but they did a great job. Both also made it into the finals of “The Singapore Science and Engineering Fair (SSEF)“, and I wish them the best for their presentations.
