Shortly after publication of my textbook on “The Organometallic Chemistry of N-Heterocyclic Carbenes” I embarked on another laborious task and accepted an invitation to contribute a Chemical Reviews article for the upcoming Carbene Chemistry special issue. After months of hard work, the review article “Electronic Properties of N-Heterocyclic Carbenes and Their Experimental Determination” has finally been published online on 30.March 2018. I am also very happy that it has become one of the most read articles since publication, and hope that it will be very useful for all interested in NHC chemistry.
